You will demonstrate value leadership, customer service and innovation to support the vision in becoming a world class provider of Procurement and Commercial services and embed a consistent approach to reduce the total cost of ownership by achieving targets set in this regard.Key Accountabilities - Reporting to the Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager you are expected to be a senior commercial practitioner (not just a people manager) and have a professional, dynamic and agile approach to ensure the successful commercial delivery of a large onshore capital project covering the entire range of procurement and commercial activities from development into execution to achieve the strategic goals of the business.- Taking responsibility for developing robust pricing assumptions and delivering on commercially led solutions, to provide enhanced business case opportunities for the Renewables business.- Being responsible for developing strong commercial and contracting strategies, then executing end to end procurement activities to meet the diverse needs of our Renewables business, whilst complying with Procurement and Commercial policies and procedures.- Engaging regularly with Category Managers and the Head of Procurement & Commercial Shared Services to ensure the wider function provides a co-ordinated, effective and efficient service to the business. Key member of a multi-disciplinary team (from the SSER matrix and/or JV partners) to design and deliver commercially successful bids, strategies and plans.- Undertaking strategic relationship management activity, working with stakeholders and our commercial / bid teams to ensure the best outcomes from our key supplier relationships.What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:- FRICS/MRICS/Quantity Surveying Degree educated or have an equivalent direct entry to a recognised appropriate professional body.- Experience of delivering the procurement and commercial function for large onshore capital projects (£1bn plus) in the UK using FIDIC and NEC contracts and the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes and problem solve.- Track record of working to and successfully delivering to tight timescales in the commercial function of large onshore capital projects across civils & M&E and both pre and post contract.- Understanding of the markets, support contracts, regions, commodities and services the Renewables business requires.- Previous experience in a similar role where you were responsible for procuring, negotiating and managing contracts and associated risks, as well as managing suppliers and sub-contractors. As well as experience in a operational multifaceted business with an understanding of supply chain concepts and how to improve them and detailed understanding of commercial value drivers within large and complex business cases.About our BusinessAt SSE, we own more than 500 property assets and several thousand land assets, which are located across the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.
