PE Teacher - SEMH School in Carshalton

PE Teacher – Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Physical Education (PE)  Teacher for a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) School in Carshalton. The successful applicant will have a strong background in Physical Education, a genuine interest in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

This is a long-term, full-time role to start as soon as possible and will be with a view to going permanent. The salary will be equal to the main Teachers’ pay scale plus SEN points.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Plan and deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting physical well-being.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and positive social interactions among students.
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Provide constructive feedback and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to address individual needs.
  • Utilise effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive and safe learning environment. Support students in developing self-regulation and coping skills.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in the field of Special Education and SEMH. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Experience in teaching Physical Education 
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Passion for promoting physical health and well-being in an educational setting.
