Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Payroll Technical Officer on behalf of a local authority based in East Sussex. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our high-performing team, supporting the delivery of a compliant monthly payroll for over 15,000 employees. Sitting within the Technical Hub, you’ll play a key role in maintaining system accuracy, leading on technical testing, ensuring timely statutory reporting, and providing expert advice to both internal and external stakeholders. Main responsibilities
Support the Payroll Manager in delivering a high-volume, compliant monthly payroll service for approximately 15,000 employees across multiple employers.
Maintain data accuracy and integrity within the SAP payroll system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal controls.
Lead on user acceptance testing and collaborate with system teams to implement configuration changes and software updates.
Produce and reconcile payroll reports, ensuring timely statutory submissions including P45s, P60s, RTI, pension returns, and BACS payments.
Provide expert payroll advice and guidance to stakeholders, support team members with complex queries, and deputise for the Payroll Manager when required.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in high-volume payroll processing within a complex organisation.
Strong technical understanding of payroll systems, ideally including SAP, and confidence in system testing and troubleshooting.
Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory reporting (e.g. RTI, P60s, pensions), and HMRC regulations.
Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and provide expert payroll advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
