Payroll Manager
Location: Office-based, Cheadle
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of client payroll implementations, support ongoing operations, and train teams both in the UK and India. You’ll manage a live client portfolio, collaborate across departments, and help shape the way we deliver payroll services through our platform.
This role is hands-on, people-focused, and delivery-driven—perfect for someone who thrives on process improvement, client interaction, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:

Client Onboarding & Project Management:
Oversee end-to-end onboarding of new clients—from contract signature to go-live. Ensure timelines, deliverables, and client expectations are met, and lead internal and offshore teams throughout the process.

Service Delivery:
Manage a portfolio of active clients with support from our India-based back office. Ensure best practices, service consistency, and high client satisfaction.

Team Training:
Deliver training to internal UK and Indian teams, maintain documentation, and support knowledge transfer.

Client Relationships:
Build rapport with clients, address inquiries, and offer payroll expertise. Travel occasionally to deliver in-person support and strengthen relationships.

Product Improvement:
Liaise with the software development team to relay client feedback and contribute to enhancements in the My Digital platform.
Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum GCSE Maths Grade B (or equivalent)
*
At least 3 years’ experience as a payroll manager in a bureau setting, with change management exposure
*
CIPP qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
*
Strong understanding of UK payroll and tax for the temporary workforce; accounting knowledge a plus
*
Proficient in payroll software (experience with specialist tools is highly desirable)
*
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*
Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to client and software evolution
