HBG are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter with welding capabilities to join one of our clients maintenance and engineering team within the food processing industry.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical fitting, assembly, and maintenance on food production machinery and equipment.
*
Carry out MIG/TIG and arc welding for repairs, modifications, and fabrication of plant components.
*
Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production efficiency.
*
Troubleshoot mechanical faults and implement effective solutions quickly and safely.
*
Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC).
*
Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and repairs in line with company procedures.
*
Support equipment installations, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects.
*
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to maintain operational excellence.
Requirements:
Essential:
*
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
*
Competent in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, ARC) and fabrication.
*
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, etc.).
*
Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene requirements in food production.
*
Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
*
Flexible, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
*
Willingness to work shift patterns, overtime, or weekend work when required
