Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Gas Turbines)
Location: Derby, UK
Job Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Rate: £40-45 per hour
Working Model: HYBRID – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with demonstrable experience in gas turbine components and an aerospace background. The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact projects involving the design, analysis, and certification of advanced aero engine components.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support the design and modification of low pressure turbine components such as discs, airfoils, seals, and attachment parts.
* Contribute to advanced design programs including:
* Open-rotor gas turbines
* Compact high-pressure cores
* Hybrid-electric propulsion architectures
* Systems designed for alternative fuels and novel materials
* Produce and review technical documentation including certification reports, design record books, and component definitions.
* Perform layout assessments, clash checks, and account for materials, weights, and tolerances.
* Work within cross-functional teams to ensure quality design execution and integration.
* Apply engineering best practices and industry standards throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI)lifecycle.
* Stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in gas turbine technology, materials, and manufacturing methods.
* Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring as needed.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Strong hands-on experience with rotor and airfoil design within aerospace gas turbines.
* In-depth understanding of mechanical design principles applied in aerospace applications.
* Experience working in a regulated aerospace environment, ideally with exposure to certification processes.
* Effective collaboration and communication skills within multi-disciplinary teams.
* A proactive mindset toward problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement
