MASH Social Worker

We are seeking a dedicated MASH Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team on a 3-6 month contract. This is a vital role within our service, playing a key part in assessing and responding to concerns about children's welfare.
*This is a primarily office-based role, requiring 3 days a week in our Carlisle office. The contract will run for an initial 3 months with potential for extension up to 6 months. *
What you'll be doing - Key Responsibilities:

• Information Gathering and Assessment:

* Receive and respond to referrals concerning children's welfare, gathering information from a range of sources (schools, health professionals, police, etc.).
* Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine the level of need and urgency of intervention.
* Utilize your professional judgement and knowledge of safeguarding legislation to make informed decisions about next steps.

• Multi-Agency Collaboration:

* Work closely with professionals from various agencies within the MASH, including police, health, education, and housing, to share information, coordinate responses, and develop safety plans.
* Participate in strategy meetings and case conferences to ensure a joined-up approach to safeguarding.

• Decision Making & Case Allocation:

* Determine appropriate thresholds for intervention, referring cases to Children's Social Care or other agencies based on assessed need.
* Where appropriate, allocate cases to social work teams, ensuring a smooth transition and clear communication of key information.

• Record Keeping & Information Management:

* Maintain accurate and confidential records of all referrals, assessments, decisions, and actions taken.
* Utilise relevant databases and case management systems to ensure efficient information sharing and case tracking.
Who we're looking for:

• Qualified Social Worker: You hold a recognised social work qualification and are registered with Social Work England.
• MASH Experience: You have proven experience working within a MASH or similar multi-agency safeguarding environment.
• Assessment Skills: You are adept at gathering information, conducting risk assessments, and making sound judgements about child protection concerns.
