We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hotel Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team in a full-time capacity. You will play a vital role in ensuring our hotel provides a safe and comfortable environment for both guests and staff by performing a variety of maintenance tasks throughout the property.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Maintenance: Carry out a wide range of maintenance duties including basic plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, painting and decorating, and general upkeep of the hotel's facilities.
- Preventative Maintenance: Participate in planned preventative maintenance programs to ensure the hotel's equipment and systems are operating efficiently and to minimize breakdowns.
- Fault Finding & Repairs: Respond promptly to maintenance requests, diagnose issues, and carry out necessary repairs to guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. Conduct basic safety checks and report any potential hazards.
- Contractor Support: Assist with supervising external contractors when required, ensuring work is completed to a satisfactory standard and in line with hotel requirements.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and any ongoing maintenance issues.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other members of the maintenance team and other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- A practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance requests and work occasional weekends.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Formal qualifications in a relevant trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical).
- Experience with HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, and/or swimming pool maintenance.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to the hospitality industry.
