Locum Senior Planning Lawyer

Locum Senior Planning Lawyer – Local Authority – South West – Full Time – £55-£60 Umbrella
Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal division is pleased to be supporting a reputable Local Authority in the South West which is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Lawyer to join its team on an interim basis, starting within the next 4 weeks.
This is a full time position for an initial duration of 3 months, subject to likely extension thereafter. Fully remote working is available for the duration of the assignment.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed caseload consisting of general planning and highways agreements.
Duties may include the following:
Providing advice on a wide range of planning matters including highways
Drafting and negotiating complex s106/278 agreements
Advising and representing clients in negotiations and discussions with third parties in planning matters and legal practice areas relevant to the post
Providing legal advice and support to any of the client Committees and Directorates when directed
Undertaking research and providing advice to the Council in the areas of planning law specifically and Local Government Law generally
