Locum Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist – Community Neurological Rehabilitation

Hourly Rate: £26+ per hour

Contract Length: 3–6 months (with potential for extension)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join a Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team on a locum basis. You will be responsible for assessing and managing adults with complex neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help support communication and swallowing needs in a variety of community settings including patients' homes, clinics, and care homes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist assessment and therapy for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
Develop and implement patient-centred treatment plans
Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other professionals in the MDT
Support patients and their families with education and strategies for managing long-term conditions
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HCPC and trust guidelines
Contribute to service development and clinical audits where appropriate
Requirements
HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist
Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
Minimum 12 months’ experience working with adults in neurorehabilitation
Competent in managing dysphagia (must have up-to-date dysphagia training and competencies)
Excellent communication, organisational, and MDT collaboration skills
UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for community visits)
Enhanced DBS clearance (required)
