Claxton are looking to hire a Lead Onshore Technician on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Westhill, Aberdeen, the Lead Onshore Technician is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of workshop and yard tasks. To develop and organise the equipment and facilities within these areas to ensure the safe and efficient operation of various processes that provide service delivery in the optimum way. Support current and planned projects to promote a reputation for excellence with Claxton clients and within the Claxton organisation. Working within the onshore operations department, the role holder is also responsible for the assembly, test, operation and maintenance of Claxton and third-party equipment in company workshops or third-party facilities to support Claxton's operations business.


Duties & Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Workshop Manager in driving safety culture on site. Lead by example and support Operations & Workshop Manager with developing improved safety behaviours. Ensure a high standard of safety and housekeeping practices are always maintained.
  • Support Workshop Manager with leading daily morning meetings, ensuring all assigned staff are aware of daily activities, work priorities and continual commitment to Health & Safety and Quality.
  • Take a lead role in workshop related activities to continually improve the working environment, processes, and procedures. Interact with staff and contribute new ideas and solutions as part of a continuous improvement process.
  • Support where required with the reviewing and updating of onshore risk assessments.
  • Manage the control of vibration at work (hand arm vibration) activities ensuring all tools are registered, tagged, risk assessed with the applicable control measures in place.
  • Ensure all applicable workshop equipment is compliant with PUWER regulations and Claxton procedures.
  • Control and manage the workshop lifting equipment onsite ensuring the rigging loft is secure, equipment is checked out and inspections are performed. Support with lift plans/guidance as and when required.
  • Work closely with Stores and technicians to monitor COSHH levels and make sure COSHH assessments are being followed. Identify where chemicals can be replaced with less toxic, environmentally friendly alternatives.
  • Sponsor and lead toolbox talks within the workshop on a regular basis.
  • Actively manage reporting staff (assigned apprentice technicians) daily making sure they know their roles and responsibilities and are held accountable for delivery against these, acting where non-performance is highlighted.
  • Support team members with goals and everyday activities. Mentor and develop staff where applicable.
  • Help drive competency system amongst the workshop team and support reporting staff with completion of units, evidence collation and assessment.
  • Service Claxton and client's own equipment, as per ISO9001 standard and Claxton procedures
  • Preparing equipment and tools for job loadouts, as per ISO9001 / API specifications and Claxton procedures
  • Carry out project mobilisations and demobilisations onsite as required.
  • To complete maintenance work packs, update certification records, other documentation and to maintain appropriate communications as required with appointed supervisor or manager
  • Check procedure/drawings prior to start of the job to ensure correct tool allocation, ensure project load outs are completed smoothly, prepare spares, consumables, and hand tools as per Product Maintenance Manuals and operating procedures.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of all provided protective equipment and tooling.
  • General housekeeping of all workshop areas.
  • Contribute to NCR investigations where required.
  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified to meet business requirements in a safe and efficient manner.


Requirements

  • HNC qualified in engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Managing Safely IOSH Training
  • Good practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of subsea services industry equipment
  • A working knowledge of Health & Safety, ISO9001 and QA procedures
  • Planning, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong focus on client satisfaction
  • Workshop tooling/fitting techniques
  • Computer literate - able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint databases to a good level
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Takes responsibility for work allocated and driven to deliver an excellent service
