Lead BIW Engineer

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

ROLE SUMMARY
The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined components / systems: BIW, closures, structures.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
Thispositionisresponsibleforestablishing,planningandrunningtheengineeringsubsystemmeetingstoensureappropriatecrossfunctionalrepresentationandinputfromallrelevantareas.Youwillhaveresponsibilityfor:
EnsureprogressionofdesignmaturityfrominitialconceptthroughtoEngineeringSign-Offanddesigngateways
Establishingandmaintaintheteamworkplanalignedtovehicleprogram
Ensuresub-systemmeetsCostandweightTargets
EnsureRegulatorycomplianceofSubsystem.
Defineappropriatesystem-levelengineeringtargetstomeetfunction,qualityandattributerequirementsoftheVehicleProgram
Developandmaintainthedesignvalidationplan(DVP)includingbothin-houseandsuppliertestingplanandensuredevelopmentsignofftestsarecompletedonschedule.
TroubleshootandresolveallValidationissues.
Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, test procedures and material specifications.
LeadFailureModeAvoidanceactivitiesincludingDFMEA,qualityhistoryreviewsdevelopmenttests.
EnsuringallrelevantdocumentationasperISO&qualitystandards.
Leadtheresolutionofdesign,attributeorpackagingincompatibilitiesthroughtheappropriate
cross-functionalmeetings.
SupportPurchasingteaminSourcingandRFQactivities.
Supportvehiclelaunchandpre-productionbuilds(bothvirtualandphysical)
EnsuringtheeffectiveapplicationofAPQPtomanagesystem/componentdelivery

KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE
Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, Cost, quality & attribute targets
Provenexperienceindevelopmentand/orintegrationofatleastoneandpreferablymoreBIWStructures(FrontEnd,UnderBody&UpperBody)
Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements
Excellentcommunicationsskills,demonstratedabilitytocommunicateatalllevels
Liaisewithsupplier,Manufacturing,CAE&ValidationTeams.
PCLiteracy:MicrosoftProject,PowerPoint,Excel,Wordetc
