Lawyer - Homelessness Law (Local Authority)
Start: ASAP End: 30 November 2025
Hours: 9:00am 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Rate: £55 £65 per hour
Key Responsibilities: Provide expert legal advice on the statutory responsibilities of local authorities under homelessness legislation.
Respond to and manage legal challenges from applicants, legal representatives, and advocacy groups regarding housing decisions.
Support and advise Team Leaders and Duty Managers , particularly on complex or escalated cases.
Draft formal responses and correspondence (both electronic and paper-based) related to legal queries and appeals.
Engage professionally with applicants, advocates, and legal representatives via telephone and written communication.
Apply in-depth knowledge of relevant case law, statutory provisions, and regulatory guidance to day-to-day legal decision-making.
Requirements: Qualified solicitor or barrister with current practising certificate (England & Wales).
23 years' experience working specifically on homelessness applications and related legal matters.
Demonstrable experience in public sector housing law and litigation (preferably within a local authority setting).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
