Laboratory Operations Technician

Location: Cambridge (CB10)
Duration: at least 3 months but likely longer with potential to become permanent
Hours: 9am - 5:30pm (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £13.33 per hour / £26,000 FTE

Polytec are looking for a Laboratory Operations Technician for our client based in South Cambridgeshire to ensure the smooth running of their laboratories and facilities. This is a role covering a period of sick leave initially but could become permanent.

Responsibilities:

* Supply of microbiological media and reagents, ensuring clean glassware and lab waste disposal
* Supply of compressed gas and liquid nitrogen, including changing gas cylinders and re-filling cryo storage vessels
* Stock ordering, receipt and distribution
* Basic laboratory and facilities checks
* Ensure Health and Safety Regulations compliance

Requirements:

* Background in biological sciences or relevant scientific laboratory experience
* Operational support in a biological sciences laboratory
* Preparation of sterile laboratory supplies, including microbiological media
* Stock management
* Laboratory health and safety
