Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Joiner to work with Tameside Council on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between the hours of 8am – 4pm. The role is offering an umbrella pay rate and a vehicle is provided for use during working hours.
Main Duties
* Carry out all aspects of multi-skilled joinery and general building repairs, including planned, responsive, and void works across council properties
* Diagnose and assess issues with locking systems and general joinery faults
* Use mobile IT systems (PDAs or iPads) to record jobs and complete documentation in real time
* Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and council vehicles safely and responsibly
* Manage van stock levels and ensure waste is sorted, recycled or disposed of properly
* Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, including completing and following task-specific risk assessments
* Support colleagues, offer guidance, and assist in training when required
* Participate in the Out of Hours Emergency Repairs rota as needed
Essential Criteria
* Time-served joinery apprenticeship
* Minimum 3 years' experience in the building industry with proven joinery expertise
* Full, valid UK driving licence
* Prior experience within social housing / Local Authority setting, and familiarity with council housing maintenance
