As Lead Practitioner, you will:
* Champion Pedagogical Innovation: Act as a leading expert in History teaching and learning, researching, developing, and disseminating outstanding pedagogical approaches and resources across the department and wider school.
* Drive Curriculum Excellence: Take a proactive role in designing and refining an ambitious and engaging History curriculum that fosters critical thinking, source analysis, and a comprehensive understanding of diverse historical periods and interpretations from KS3 to A-Level.
* Mentor and Develop Colleagues: Provide coaching, training, and support to History teachers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sharing best practice within the department.
* Enhance Student Outcomes: Directly impact student achievement through exceptional teaching, targeted interventions, and the development of high-quality assessment strategies.
* Lead Historical Research & Enrichment: Orchestrate compelling research opportunities, historical debates, and enrichment activities (e.g., museum visits, guest speakers) that bring the past vividly to life, leveraging London's rich historical resources.
* Contribute to School-Wide Improvement: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and other Lead Practitioners to contribute to the school's overall teaching and learning strategy, promoting historical literacy across the curriculum.
We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner of History with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial experience teaching at all key stages, particularly A-Level. You will possess a deep subject knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the drive to lead and inspire colleagues.
