Looking for a Head of Service, Improvement, Practice Standards and Effectiveness to contribute to the local authorities improvement journey.This is an exciting opportunity to have a genuine impact in driving up standards of practice to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families.This person will be the lead officer working with the Service Director for Early Help, Quality Assurance and Partnerships for the oversight and implementation of the Children’s Improvement Plan, working closely with the DfE Advisor, Children’s Commissioner, Senior and Executive Officers, Children’s Improvement Board and our Children’s Improvement Partner Leeds City Council.The Head of Service will provide effective, creative and positive strategic leadership and management in relation to practice, standards and effectiveness, including the business unit for the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership, the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Community Safety Partnership.The ability to manage confidential, complex and sensitive matters including the oversight of Safeguarding Practice Reviews is an essential requirement of the role.The successful candidate will lead inspection readiness and our self-evaluation of practice, and as such will have extensive experience in managing services that are inspected by Ofsted with a detailed knowledge of inspection frameworks.It is important to be a skilled collaborator with extensive experience in multi-agency working and an unrelenting focus on understanding the lived experience of children, young people and families together with a focus on improving outcomes.

Social Work Qualification/Registered with Social Work EnglandExtensive knowledge and background in safeguarding children are essential requirements of the role, as is a keen eye for details, audit and reviewRight to work in the UKAvailable to start ASAP
