Are you ready to be a fearless advocate for change at the intersection of healthcare, justice, and lived experience?

Our client is seeking a Strategic Lead to take a ground-breaking initiative to the next level—ensuring the voices of families and carers of people in prison are not only heard but acted upon. This is a rare and impactful opportunity to drive systemic change within prison healthcare, working directly with families, NHS teams, prison services, and senior decision-makers.

About the Role:

This pivotal position will see you lead a dynamic project operating on a quarterly cycle of listening, feedback, and action. Central to this initiative is the Family Team—a powerful group of individuals with lived experience of supporting loved ones in prison. You will ensure their experiences are central to the design and delivery of healthcare solutions within the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

* Champion the voice of families and carers, ensuring meaningful involvement in NHS and prison healthcare decision-making.

* Lead a quarterly cycle of structured engagement with families, turning insights into real, actionable change.

* Collaborate with NHS leaders, prison services, and policymakers to challenge and improve current systems.

* Facilitate the Family Team’s contribution to policy, practice, and service design—keeping their voices front and centre.

* Drive a culture of inclusion, respect, and transformation within the justice and healthcare sectors.

What We’re Looking For:

* A strategic thinker and compelling communicator with the confidence to influence at a senior level.

* Experience leading public voice or service user involvement programmes.

* Deep knowledge of the criminal justice system, prison healthcare, or both.

* A strong ability to engage and build trust with families from diverse backgrounds, recognising their pain, resilience, and aspirations.

* The courage to challenge systems and advocate for change where it matters most.

* Lived experience is highly valued—whether you’ve been in prison or supported a loved one inside.

What’s on Offer:

* A mission-driven, values-led culture focused on dignity, relationships, and justice.

* Access to a free advice, information, and counselling service.

* Generous holiday entitlement and contributory pension scheme.

* Additional benefits include a cycle-to-work scheme, corporate eye care, and structured training opportunities.

* Supportive induction process and continued professional development.

This is more than just a job.
It’s your chance to create a more just, compassionate, and inclusive system—one where families are empowered, informed, and integral to the healthcare decisions affecting their loved ones in prison.

If you're ready to lead with purpose, we want to hear from you
