We are recruiting for a Head of Finance Operations to lead edyn’s Finance Operations team. Finance Operations is a team of circa 25 made up of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Systems administration and Process Improvement with a role ensuring the smooth delivery of transactional finance for the group. These teams are fundamental to support business performance and the jobholder would be the primary figurehead and a point of escalation for the business.
The role will support the business optimising technology to streamline and simplify business processes. Edyn is a fast paced and energised company and is looking for a person who brings a balance of great technical and interpersonal skills while having the drive to realise the potential of both themselves and the company.
Working as part of a wider 60+ person Finance team, the jobholder should be a passionate and positive financial practitioner who wants to make a difference and contribute to the continuous improvement of the business processes and results through a structured way of working that challenges current practices. The jobholder will have a clear grasp of financial principles and a track record of supporting business processes through change. Attention to detail is a key attribute required in this role.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Day to day operations
- As head of the c.25 person team this role would be responsible for setting the teams culture leadership and vision, enabling effective communication, supporting talent management and development and enabling a high team performance.
- Oversee full transactional ledger ownership. Perform the review and approval of month-end tasks completed by the transactional teams (bank reconciliations, journal signoffs and period-end close). Approve business transactions in-line with approval limits.
- Establish and maintain a transactional control environment plan and work with your direct reports to implement successfully into BAU. Ensure this is underpinned by process documentation. Evaluation processes for efficiency and automation opportunities.
- Be the business lead and figurehead for Finops. Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders that enable influence and change. Provide Finance Operations representation and expertise for business wide projects and change programs. Apply sound judgement and meet business needs.
- Be the SME for Finops. Be a point of escalation and follow up on any internal or external transaction finance queries, completing a root cause analysis to determine and bring closure to recurring issues. This includes data analysis and reconciliation exercises.
- Support the business in its management of risk through setting and enforcing policy in key areas (i.e. purchasing, expenses, credit control). Ensure adequate training and guidance to staff to enable successful execution of roles and responsibilities.
- Establish appropriate and optimised jurisdictional practices to ensure we comply with local requirements and enable business success.
- Oversea the appropriate utilisation and operation of related finance systems.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
Knowledge / Skills
- Experience of completing day to day transactional finance procedures and management.
- Be data led in problem solving
- Strong business acumen and problem-solving ability.
- Autonomous and adaptable, ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and an organised logical approach is essential.
- Ability to build strong relationships with other functions in the business to enable the successful delivery of business processes.
- Be hands on, willingness to roll up sleeves and solve problems when needed.
Experience / Qualifications
- MS Office literate, with advanced excel skills.
- Good examples of problem solving including working with systems to deliver improvements.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proven success managing external stakeholder relationships.
- Understanding of fundamental VAT (or equivalent) principles.
- Operating with multi-jurisdictional entities.
PREFERABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
Experience
- Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite.
- Experience within travel or hospitality sectors.
- Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
