Our team of over 500 professionals deliver services over the full lifespan of projects – from bid to handover – from our offices across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.RoleThe Head of Data and Reporting will lead the definition of the Reporting, Performance Management, Analytics and Data Strategy for the entirety of the client’s programme and to build that into a working analytics ecosystem for all the client performance management requirements and reporting needs. The role will have direct responsibility for the Business Improvement and Analytics team within the client organisation as well as heavily interfacing with the client PMO/Project Controls, Project Delivery teams as well as the wider client enterprise organisation. This is to a large degree, a start from scratch assignment therefore clear definition and subsequent agreement on the client requirements is likely to be one of the key initial tasks undertaken.ResponsibilitiesDirect responsibility for defining the strategy and approach for the performance reporting/management of the client.Document the approach by developing a written strategy outlining the overall approach to reporting.Define the objectives and KPI’s of the reporting process ensuring that they KPI’s that align with the client’s goals.Driving and working with the client organisation on architectural decisions around data platforms and systems.Ensuring there are robust standards, policies and processes including data naming conventions as required for data analysis tasks.Select appropriate reporting tools and software for collecting, analysing and presenting project data. Ensure the tools align with the needs and capabilities of the team.Establish the reporting frequency including determining how often reports will be generated and shared i.e., this could be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on project timelines, requirements etc.Develop standardised report templates that include essential information such as status updates, milestones, risks, budgets etc.Review and define the client’s technology landscape and see what best meets the requirements for the short and medium term.Clarify roles and responsibilities by determining who is responsible for generating reports, who approves them and who will be the primary recipients.Train the client team members on the reporting process and tools to ensure team members are familiar with the expectations and can contribute effectively.Establish mechanisms to ensure accuracy and reliability of the data being reported – this may involve regular data audits.Communicate the importance of the reporting process to the team emphasising its role in successfully delivering projects.Chair of the Analytics Council which is the forum for managing collaboration on analytics and analytics governance within the client.Develop and maintain the full catalogue of reporting KPI’s for the client in collaboration with the client leadership team and functions.Responsible for structuring and designing the foundational data models across the client organisation that will facilitate the use of advanced analytics methods in future.Ensure the client is prepared for new and emerging technologies and ensuring their organisation can take advantage of these as and where appropriate.IndividualThe post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a complete reporting and data governance framework in partnership with the client’s PMO Lead and CIO team across the delivery organisation. The candidate must also have a proven and successful experience/history of leading high-performing data teams through the successful performance of advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modelling that positively impact a project or business performance.Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceThe Head of Data and Reporting should have a degree in Mathematics/ Machine Learning/Computer Science/ Economics, or any other related quantitative field or suitable working experience of 15+ years is also acceptable for the position.Extensive skill and experience in presenting complex information to senior executives and shareholders.Demonstrable data management, analysis, and visualisation experience on Major Projects/ Programmes.Mentoring and/or coaching experience.Demonstrable use of numerical and verbal communication skills with a business environment.Understanding of Microsoft Azure, Power BI and/or other analytics tools.Data modelling – how to architect data models in both relational and nonrelational contexts.Data analysis – deep knowledge of data analysis tools/methods.Databricks or other ETL tool knowledge.Membership in/active participant in industry-wide groups/meetups pertaining to data.
