We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the Canal and River Trust estate. This role involves the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across a diverse range of assets, including mechanical and hydraulic infrastructure such as moving bridges, pumping stations, and flood management structures.
Key Terms and Conditions:
Hourly paid position with a guaranteed minimum of 39 hours per week
Additional hours available, paid at enhanced overtime rates (time and a half, double time, etc.)
Company vehicle provided, with paid time calculated door-to-door
Average working week of 50–55 hours, including travel time
Optional on-call rota with additional payments
Some out-of-hours and weekend work required as part of the role
All tools and PPE provided
Company-issued mobile phone, laptop, and/or tablet
Comprehensive training provided for all required systems and procedures
Subsistence allowance and accommodation provided when working away from home
Maximum shift length of 14 hours, including travel
Minimum 12 hours rest between shifts
25 days paid annual leave, in addition to public/bank holidays
Essential Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent)
BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
AM2 Assessment
Inspection and Testing Certification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)
Appointed Person for electrical isolations
High Voltage (HV) experience is not required
Required Experience:
Electrical inspection, testing, planned and reactive maintenance in water management and/or moving structures environments
Electrical fault-finding, repair, system upgrades, and new installations
Working with PLC systems, SCADA, control panels, actuators, and drive systems (e.g., Rotork)
Electrical installations supporting mechanical/hydraulic equipment such as pumps, HPU’s, lock counters, sensors, UPS, solar systems, and flow meter
