The opportunity
Due to ongoing expansion and a significant pipeline of major infrastructure programmes, our client—a global leader in engineering and defence solutions—is seeking a skilled Electrical Services Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and mission-critical environment where your work has a real and lasting impact. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team within the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit, delivering complex design packages in support of nationally important defence assets.

This role has been deemed inside IR35 12 months+ and will be based in Plymouth or Bristol
2 days remote, 3 in the office per week
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Support the Discipline Lead in the successful delivery of electrical engineering work packages across scope, schedule, quality, and cost parameters.
Manage the technical deliverables associated with Electrical Services, ensuring alignment with project plans and agreed deliverables.
Work collaboratively within the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit, liaising with design teams and stakeholders.
Provide expert technical input and direction to sub-contracted design houses to ensure robust and compliant design outputs.
Apply in-depth understanding of engineering design, safety principles, and best practice relevant to the role and project requirements.
Contribute to project planning, specification, budgeting, and risk management processes.
Operate in compliance with company procedures relating to design governance, quality assurance, and health & safety standards.
Utilize engineering software and tools to support documentation and technical analysis.
Ideally, contribute design support during construction, refit, repair, or operation of both conventional and nuclear submarines.
Design electrical building services including:
Fire detection and alarm systems.
Industrial and emergency lighting systems.
Site broadcast and PA systems.
HVAC integration and controls.You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
A Degree or HND in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline (strongly preferred).
Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards registration with the Engineering Council.
Proven experience in managing complex design developments throughout the full lifecycle.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services and design-to-construction support.
Proficiency in relevant engineering design software and tools.
Understanding of engineering standards, regulations, and safety requirements within high-assurance sectors.Get in touch now
