Role details:
Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the Calibration and Maintenance Department in Stevenage. This role, pivotal to ensuring the operational availability of critical equipment, involves a range of maintenance activities with a focus on electrical systems. This contract position demands a proactive and technically adept individual.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventative maintenance on process equipment and environmental stress screening facilities.
Diagnose faults and conduct repairs down to component level, using schematics, user manuals, and technical drawings.
Support operations with preventative maintenance tasks and provide technical guidance.
Ensure the updates of spares packages to minimise equipment downtime.
Maintain and manage maintenance and breakdown contracts, both internally and externally.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and perform regular safety inspections.
Support faults on extraction units, motors, electrical safety testing, and electrical panels.
Collaborate with teams to develop effective maintenance schedules and protocols.

Job Requirements:

Electrical Apprenticeship + L3 competency based qualification (e.g. NVQ or HNC Electrical Manufacturing)
Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance and fault-finding on electronic manufacturing machinery.
Ability to interpret technical documents, including drawings and specifications.
Experience in working with manufacturing process equipment (e.g., CCA) is desirable.
Knowledge of vibration shakers and environmental chambers is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to task management.
Understanding of SAP is desirable, along with the ability to mentor junior staff.
IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 18th Edition) and IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment are preferable.

Additional Information:

Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
The position is based in Stevenage and is site-based, with standard day working hours.
This is a new role created to support ongoing projects within the Calibration and Maintenance Department.
