Monarch Education is working in partnership with a secondary school in Birmingham to recruit a dedicated and skilled Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join their team in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a well-equipped DT department and play a vital role in the delivery of creative, practical learning for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

As a DT Technician, you will support teaching staff by preparing materials, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely. You'll assist in a range of DT disciplines including resistant materials, electronics, and graphics.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and setting up resources and materials for practical lessons in woodwork, metalwork, and other DT areas.

• Maintaining and repairing tools, machines, and equipment, ensuring they are in safe working order.

• Monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies when needed.

• Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed and conducting regular risk assessments.

• Supporting students and staff during practical lessons, providing guidance on equipment use.

• Ensuring the workshop and classroom areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with safety regulations.

• Previous experience as a DT Technician in a school or workshop environment is highly desirable.

• A working knowledge of DT machinery and tools (e.g., saws, drills, laser cutters, 3D printers).

• Understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop or school setting.

• Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to supporting practical learning.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
