About the opportunity
We are looking for a Cost & Contract Engineer to join Turnaround Team at Fife Ethylene Plant as we prepare for our Turnaround that will be executed in August 2026. You'll be joining FEP at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious competitiveness targets. Supporting one of our regional and site key focus areas (Turnarounds). This role is responsible for overseeing the turnaround costs through planning stage, building up the cost estimates and then stewarding costs through execution. With regards to the Contract oversight, this will require providing support to Procurement to help set up the contracts to enable the contractors to deliver against scope, cost and duration. During turnaround execution and payment of contracts, this role will be vital in ensuring there is no contract leakage.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Reporting into the TA Manager providing cost estimates and ensuring consistency in cost planning & estimating approach.
Work closely with the Planning Team to produce various cost planning & estimating documentation that can be assured both internally and externally.
Monitoring and managing Turnaround budgets through pre-TA including supporting change management.
Providing quantification support during cost planning and estimating activities.
Support pre-TA and delivery teams in periodically collating benchmarking data
Stakeholder management to produce the Estimate e.g., planning, procurement etc.
Presenting, negotiating and justifying prices produced in an open and honest manner to both TA Manager and Site Leadership team.
Oversight of managing all third-party contractors with the help of the business commercial and procurement teams on behalf of the Turnaround Team.
Develop and Implement all Policies and procedures required for all contracts in the Turnaround portfolio.
Develop effective working relationships between all parties.
Work with the Turnaround Manager, the wider site teams, internal commercial and legal teams to provide the best reasonable solution available to the business regarding contract dispute resolution.
Working closely with the Technical Asset Engineer and the Senior M&V Analyst within the Asset Performance Team to assist in all matters contractual ensuring the team comply with all KPI and reporting obligations.
Assist with the identification and impact of KPI and performance issues.
Lead SRM meetings with key Turnaround contractors.
About you
Essential
Proficient in the use of Excel and similar software.
Excellent communications and presentation skills.
Commercial or operational background considered.Desirable
Experienced estimating background using Estimating Software & tools.
Experience of working with the AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity.
Mobile and flexible.
Chartered by relevant industry-recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc.
Demonstrable experience of professional people interaction and management with Contract Management.
Enthusiasm and willingness to teach and learn and adapt quickly to growing business needs.
A Professional approach and manner are paramount when dealing with colleagues, consultants, contract partners and other third-party providers
