Job Title: Consultant Ecologist / Ornithologist
Location: Glasgow (Full-Time, Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
I'm currently working with a well-established, independent environmental consultancy with a global reach in the green energy sector. They're looking to appoint a Consultant Ecologist / Ornithologist to join their Glasgow-based Consenting and Environment Team on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ecologist or ornithologist to play a key role in delivering planning and environmental services across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects-from early feasibility through to consent and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing a range of small to large-scale projects, including overseeing survey logistics and budgets.
Leading or contributing to ecological and ornithological surveys as needed.
Advising internal teams and clients on survey design, data collection and interpretation, and ecological impact assessments.
Producing a range of documentation, including:
Annual reports
Feasibility studies, screening/scoping reports
Preliminary Environmental Information (PEI)
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
Environmental Statement (ES) chapters
Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA)
Monitoring plans and licence applications
Staying informed of evolving guidance and best practices within the onshore renewables sector.
Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Supporting business development through identifying new opportunities and contributing to tender proposals.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
Demonstrable consultancy experience in ecology or ornithology, preferably in the renewables sector.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing technical reports.
A good understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation and planning processes.
Project management experience and confidence in a client-facing role.
