Job Title: CMM / Mechanical Inspector

Location: Basildon
Salary: �22.80 per hour (including shift allowance)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Shifts: Two-shift rotation

  • Early Shift: Mon-Thurs, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm; Fri, 6:00 am - 1:30 pm
  • Late Shift: Mon-Thurs, 1:45 pm - 9:45 pm; Fri, 1:15 pm - 8:45 pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CMM / Mechanical Inspector to join a leading precision engineering company based in Basildon. You will be responsible for the inspection and verification of high-precision machined components and assemblies, ensuring full compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Reporting to the Inspection Team Lead, this role is key to supporting both first-off and final inspections within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform first-off inspection of machined components and complex assemblies using CAD data and drawings
  • Complete final inspection reports and AS9100 First Article Inspection Documents
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to quality assurance requirements and procedures
  • Record and report non-conforming products to internal and customer standards
  • Ensure correct calibration of inspection tooling and adherence to traceability processes
  • Handle materials responsibly to maintain quality throughout the production lifecycle
  • Provide general Quality Control support as required by production schedules

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience inspecting machined components
  • Hands-on experience operating CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
  • Familiarity with PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso software (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T, SPC, ISO 9001 standards
  • Proficient in using a variety of inspection tools (CMM, Vision CMM, Shadow Graph, etc.)
  • Background in machining of aluminium, steel, or titanium parts
  • Ability to interpret technical results using first principles
