Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Design Engineer to join one of the UK's leading engineering design consultancy and engineering solutions company on a long term contract basis or Permanent basis.
As a Civil Design Engineer you will be involve in designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of various civil engineering projects, ensuring you meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The initial project will encompass various works such as foundations, storage tanks, earthworks, reinforced concrete, and similar flow enhancement structures for the water industry. Additionally, involvement in railway overhead line equipment (OLE) foundations and assessments of OLE masts and other structures may be required. The exact nature of the project will depend on the experience of the successful candidate.
Purpose:
To produce design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
Produce design calculations and drawings.
Direct and develop CAD technicians and more junior designers and graduates.
Prepare design investigations, reports, and specifications.
Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional, and group standards.
Ensure project change for design package is recorded.
Undertake work using formal processes and procedures.
Assist with estimating hours required for design packages.
Attend IDC meetings and design presentations and present simple designs.
Liaise with client engineers as appropriate.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
5 years’ relevant design experience in structures and/or civil engineering.
Graduate or HND.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Professional qualification.
Experience in temporary works design, structures, and civil engineering.
Awareness of construction methods and materials.
Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.
Experience working in the utilities, water, or railway industries.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficient in TEDs, Ansys, and/or MATHCAD.
