An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Building Technology Engineer to join a growing intelligent buildings team at the forefront of smart infrastructure delivery. This role offers the chance to work on some of the UK’s most innovative education, commercial and defence projects – helping deliver fully integrated building automation and BACS solutions.
This position would suit an engineer with a solid understanding of building automation protocols (e.g. KNX, ModBus, BACnet) and a passion for creating high-performance, energy-efficient and intuitive building systems. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the development and commissioning of intelligent building technology, from design through to testing and on-site delivery.
Working closely with design engineers, software developers, and commissioning teams, the Building Technology Engineer will assist in developing system architecture, programming logic (FBD/LUA), FAT testing and live commissioning activities. The role will be based in London, with occasional travel to offsite facilities and project locations (including a factory and workshop).
Key Responsibilities:

Support the design and development of Building Automation & Controls Systems (BACS)
*
Assist with BACS programming, system architecture, and preparation of drawings and documentation
*
Liaise with suppliers, installers, and project managers to ensure efficient and timely delivery
*
Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning and calibration checks
*
Train contractors and end-users on the use of smart building systems
*
Maintain and troubleshoot existing installations
*
Ensure installations meet all relevant British, BSRIA and CIBSE standards
Ideal Candidate:
*
Degree in Building Services, Building Technology or Automation (Essential)
*
5+ years experience with KNX using ETS software (Essential)
*
Working knowledge of ModBus, BACnet, DALI, and similar protocols
*
Experience in both office-based design and site/factory-based delivery
*
Familiarity with AutoCAD (Essential), and preferably REVIT, Bluebeam or ACC
*
UK or EU driving licence (Essential)
*
Security clearance (Essential or able to obtain)
