Location: Rogerstone (Newport)

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Shifts: Monday - Friday rotating shifts (6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm)

About the Role

As a Building Services Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and upkeep of facilities across our fast-paced food manufacturing site. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a generalist background in site maintenance and a can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, and painting
  • Carry out repairs and upkeep of doors, walls, floors, ceilings, and fixtures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot issues with lighting, water systems, etc.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards
  • Support scheduled and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure a safe working environment
  • Liaise with contractors and external providers when necessary
  • Assist in site compliance activities including health and safety standards

About You

This role is perfect for someone experienced in general facilities maintenance or building services, who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and functional working environment.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a general maintenance or handyman-type role
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, joinery, painting, and electrical repairs
  • Proactive and reliable with strong problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of health and safety in the workplace
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing workload and priorities

Desirable

  • Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Basic electrical or plumbing qualifications
  • Familiarity with compliance checks (e.g. fire safety, legionella, PAT testing)
