Building Services Engineer Nuclear/Defence Location: Plymouth - (Hybrid 2/3 days per week) Type: Permanent or Contract (Outside IR35) Security Clearance: Active SC clearance required Nationality Requirement: Sole British Citizens only
Copello is working with a leading engineering organisation within the Nuclear and Defence sectors to recruit a Building Services Engineer to support secure infrastructure programmes. This position plays a crucial role in the design, delivery, and compliance of mechanical and/or electrical building services across complex facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver detailed design, specification, and integration of building systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, power, plumbing)
Ensure full compliance with defence, nuclear, and building regulations and standards
Collaborate with project teams, architects, safety engineers and stakeholders to develop integrated solutions
Support through the full project lifecycle including planning, documentation, and technical oversight during construction and commissioning
Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to design assurance and governance reviews
What Were Looking For: Degree-qualified in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CIBSE, British Standards, JSPs)
Demonstrable experience in secure environments such as defence, nuclear or highly regulated sectors
Utilise CAD/BIM tools to create models and blueprints.
Must hold current SC clearance and be a sole British citizen (dual nationals cannot be considered due to security restrictions)
