Job Title: Building Services Engineer

Location: West midlands (Office-based)

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 (DOE)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

In this role, you’ll deliver construction-level mechanical designs across a wide range of low-carbon projects — from energy centres and district networks to sub-plantroom changeovers. Projects include a variety of heat pump systems such as Ground Source, Air Source, Waste Heat Recovery, and River Source technologies, ranging from 200kW to 40MW in scale.

Key Responsibilities:

* Produce and review detailed P&ID designs for complex mechanical systems

* Take concept designs through to full RIBA Stage 6 construction detail

* Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs)

* Conduct on-site surveys with senior engineers to assess existing systems

* Collaborate closely with internal teams across sales, fabrication, and engineering

* Support technical queries and ensure safe, compliant designs

* Manage multiple projects at various delivery phases

Essential Skills & Experience:

* Experience in Building Services or HVAC design

* Engineering degree or equivalent background

* Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit

* Strong understanding of mechanical hydraulics and plantroom systems

* Track record of delivering detailed designs in the renewable energy or HVAC sector

* Excellent communication and time management skills

* Motivated, self-sufficient, and eager to contribute to a fast-moving environment

Desirable:

* Experience with large energy centres (CHP, boilers, packaged plantrooms)

* Familiarity with HTMs and previous work on healthcare or hospital projects

* Awareness of M&E RIBA Stages 3–6

* Team-oriented with a collaborative attitude
