Our client, are hiring a Bid Writer to join their team based in South Woodford. They offer a range of services including construction, refurbishment/fit out, and maintenance across the Leisure,  health, residential, and education sector. A 

Main purpose of the role:


  • The Bid writer is responsible for the quality of all aspects of the bid, including written documentation and presentations.  They ensure all bid documentation is clear, concise and - crucially - compelling.  They source and co-ordinate design input to ensure the visual standard of all documentation and presentation material is first class and eye-catching.
  • The Bid writer must understand the business processes and procedures and co-ordinate all parties involved in the bid process to ensure everyone is aware of the level of contribution expected of them and knows when their deadlines are.  They will ensure all timelines are met and that the bid submitted is as complete and accurate as possible, whilst also best reflecting your company’s services and abilities.
  • The Bid writer should be highly motivated, innovative, customer focused and have a ‘can do’ attitude.  They should be able to motivate and inspire others; able to obtain a high level of work from the team to ensure all deadlines are met efficiently and that the bid is of the highest quality possible.
  • The bid writer is expected to research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities and understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.
  • Excellent communications skills are a must, both verbal and written – the importance of being able to converse and liaise with all bid contributors is key and being able to ‘speak their language’ is vital to get the most from everyone, ensuring the bid is as good as it possibly can be.
  • The Bid writer role is an integral position within the company.  It is their job to work with the internal team, and other managers to increase the opportunity in securing future works.
  • The Bid writer will produce professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organisations value proposition.  This is a networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines.
  • The Bid writer reports directly to the Bid manager, In the absence of the Bid Manager, the individual would report to the Business Manager.

Scope of the role:

The main duties and responsibilities of the Business Development Manager can be summarised as follows:


  • Attending and presentation information at a monthly review meeting
  • Manage the bid writing process and ensure deadlines are hit
  • Writing Bids to suit the given project
  • Writing case studies as the business requires
  • Writing SQ’s as the business requires
  • Writing presentations as the business requires
  • Assisting with general literature required by the business for events, accreditations, company website and social media sites, company brochure, etc
  • Assisting and working with the team to develop the business Marketing strategy and illustrations
  • Any other reasonable management request

Salary & package:


  • Up to 60k per annum experience dependant
  • Package Allowance: 5k per annum
  • Workplace: Office based role but requirement to visit site as required
  • Holidays – 22 days annual leave allowance and 8 bank holidays = 30 days total plus Business closes at Xmas and staff given days off as good will gesture from the company which is not taken from holiday allocation
  • Pension: Auto enrolment pension scheme – company contribute 3%
  • Work Equipment: Supplied as necessary to complete role.
  • Hours of Work: 8am-5pm – but requirement to work out of hours as the project requires.
  • Annual pay and bonus reviews which are discretionary.
  • Fuel card.
  • Start date: ASAP.
