Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist - Critical Care Rehabilitation

We have a new opportunity for a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Respiratory, Surgery & Critical Care Therapy Team at Barnet Hospital - part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post is full time, working 37.5 hours per week, but flexible working may be considered if raised at interview. This is a newly created post at Barnet Hospital providing Occupational Therapy rehabilitation for patients on Critical Care and then continuing as they step-down to the wards and later via the multidisciplinary outpatient intensive care follow up service. We welcome applications from band 6 or 7 Occupational Therapists with experience in rehab who are looking for a new challenge. We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with proven experience of working with people with acute and complex rehab needs - preferably within the acute care setting. Previous critical care experience is not essential as this is still a developing role where transferrable skills can be utilised. In addition, full induction, access to training, joint working and ongoing support will be provided from the friendly and dedicated therapists within the team and our Neurology Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist.Main duties of the jobThis post will offer the opportunity to develop highly specialist skills in the management of critical care patients at all stages of their journey - fully embracing the benefits of high quality therapeutic relationships. The post has a strong emphasis on assessment and acute rehabilitation as part of a specialist interdisciplinary team within the critical care and ward setting. You will have the opportunity to take on team leadership responsibilities, which will include developing and leading on the operational management and service delivery for the occupational therapy team within critical care. Applicants must demonstrate specialist knowledge, skills and application of current acute assessment and rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well in a team, an interest in the training and supervision of staff and a positive and flexible approach is essential.About usYou will be joining an established Critical Care Therapy Team of Physiotherapists, Dietitians, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers supported by a Clinical LeadTherapist. You will be encouraged to take an active role in current projects, including service development and evaluation internal and external training audit and research review. You will be working in a rewarding and challenging clinical environment. The therapies department at Barnet Hospital is committed to ensuring staff feel supported with career progression through supervision, appraisal, in-house / external training and leadership development. The department operates a 7 day service, and you will be expected to work one weekend in four on a rota basis. We are a very friendly and welcoming service where staff wellbeing is a high priority.
