Your new role
As our new Associate - Vibration Engineering Team Lead, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to take the lead and support the team in delivering secured work as well as explore new opportunities. The role spans across the fields of many disciplines and as such we are open to candidates from an acoustics, structural engineering or mechanical engineering background, although competence on vibration engineering and knowledge on how the AEC industry operates are a must. The projects we work on are high profile and we push the boundaries of vibration design, e.g. the University of Cambridge new Department of Physics building and others.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Lead a team of 2-3 people
Support the team through knowledge transfer and review of deliverables
Competent review of vibration engineering deliverables in the form of design and survey report, numerical modelling and calculations
Management of projects and vibration task, budget and workload
Bid for new projects and pursue new opportunities according to aspirations within the Vibration Team
Lead the delivery, understand risk for vibration performance and communicate to client/stakeholders
Communication and collaboration across disciplines relevant to the vibration design (Structural Engineer, M&E Engineer, Acoustic Engineer)
Lead user engagement sessions to steer the design on vibration engineering matters
Your new team
You will be part of our specialist Vibration Engineering Team, which you will lead. You will be ideally located in Manchester but with the possibility to be anywhere within the UK. The team undertake widely varied work, ranging from the design of ultra-sensitive scientific facilities, floor vibration in buildings to re-radiated noise in buildings from railways. The team adopt specialist analytical and numerical modelling techniques together with a sound practical approach through field measurements and develop bespoke in-house software applications for optimising the vibration design.

These include:
A degree in civil/structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or acoustics, with specific experience in delivering high profile projects
Proven experience in the field or a closely related discipline
Highly motivated to take the lead of the team, appreciate capabilities, foster innovation in this field and explore new avenues of offering for this specialist team
Professional qualification (e.g. CEng MICE, MIOA, MIMechE, etc.)
Highly numerate and interested/engaged in technical aspects of the delivery (signal analysis, ground borne vibration, structural dynamics)
A track record of vibration engineering delivery in national and/or international projects (this could be in different markets)
