Are you an ambitious and creative urban designer at the early stages of your career, looking for a platform to grow within a highly regarded planning and design consultancy?

I'm working with a well-established, design-led planning practice that's looking to expand its urban design team with the appointment of a talented Assistant Urban Designer. Based in central Sheffield, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1-3 years of relevant experience who's ready to take the next step in their career.

The Role:

You'll be working as part of a multidisciplinary team on a diverse range of residential and mixed-use projects across the UK. This includes masterplanning, design codes, strategic site promotion and placemaking at varying scales - from concept through to planning.

What You'll Be Doing:

Supporting senior designers and planners with the preparation of urban design and masterplanning proposals

Contributing to the development of design strategies and frameworks

Producing high-quality illustrative material using software such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and SketchUp

Assisting with site analysis, feasibility studies and stakeholder presentations

Collaborating with a talented team of planners, architects, and landscape designers

About You:

Degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification in Urban Design highly desirable)

Strong design and graphic communication skills

Proficiency in key design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, SketchUp)

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in placemaking and sustainable development

What's On Offer:

A competitive salary, tailored to your experience

Flexible hybrid working arrangement

Ongoing support for professional development (including Pathway to Chartership if applicable)

A welcoming, creative studio culture within a growing national consultancy

This is a great chance to join a team where your ideas will be valued and where you can see your work make a tangible impact on communities.
