The Best Connection is delighted to offer the opportunity to work with one of our biggest clients, a multinational family-owned business with annualized turnover in excess of £4.2 billon. The client has grown into the UK’s largest independent wholesalers.
Working in a team, you’re likely to do a variety of jobs in the process, such as taking delivery of goods into a warehouse for sorting, stacking and storage and then eventually picking and packing items for dispatch as they are sent on their way to our high streets, businesses and out-of-town stores.
If you think of yourself as a practical, common-sense sort of person with a methodical approach, who is happy to work in a team, this might be the role for you. The ability to work quickly, accurately, and safely are also highly desirable skills.
Working in a warehouse is very hands-on, so it helps to be physically fit and can mean lifting heavy objects and operating heavy machinery.
Duties of the warehouse operative:
* Loading and unloading delivery vehicles by hand.
* Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in the warehouse.
* Taking goods to the appropriate storage space – perhaps using loading and lifting gear for heavy goods
* Keeping a careful record of the stock on the warehouse management system, so that it can be located quickly.
* Move and rearrange stock and ensure that products are stored safely (especially chemicals and food) and labelled correctly and safely (especially chemicals and food).
* Picking orders using a hand-held scanner from the storage space and bringing them for packing, or to the loading bay for transportation.
Your role may also involve but will not be restricted to putting products into container such as boxes and crates, using bubble wrap or polystyrene chips and then sealing the containers ready for delivery to shops and stores. You will also ensure orders are packaged and labelled correctly to prevent returned orders.
Cleaning and maintaining the warehouse will also be part of the daily routine.
With heavy equipment in operation warehouses can be dangerous places, so following workplace health and safety rules will be essential.
The standard hours for this position are 09:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday. Some flexibility to this work pattern may be available to outstanding candidates
