As a Temporary Works Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of delivering safe, innovative, and efficient temporary works solutions for one of the UK's largest rail construction ventures. Your work will directly impact the successful development of critical high-speed rail structures that will revolutionise transport connectivity across the country.

Role Purpose:
You'll manage and coordinate all temporary works activities for a designated section of the HS2 project, ensuring that safety, efficiency, and project goals are met. In this key role, you'll collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders, contributing to the successful execution of this prestigious project.

Key Interfaces:
  • Internal: Sublot Design Manager, Sublot Project Manager, Methods Engineers, Temporary Works Design Manager, Principal Contractors Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • External: Parent company temporary works teams, supply chain partners.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage and Coordinate: Oversee all temporary works (TW) activities, ensuring that the project's construction requirements are met efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain Standards: Keep the Temporary Works Register up to date, ensuring new TW items are risk-assessed and managed in line with project safety standards.
  • Collaborate: Act as a key link between the client, designers, and third-party stakeholders, ensuring the right information is exchanged for smooth project progress.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee all TW designs meet regulatory standards, including CDM 2015, HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements, and technical standards.
  • Manage Risk: Communicate risks early, advising the project manager, and take proactive steps to ensure that TW activities are delivered safely and on time.
  • Drive Excellence: Push for optimal design solutions that balance safety, cost, and buildability, while supporting HS2's overarching goals of sustainability and innovation.
What You Bring:

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on similar infrastructure projects.
  • Qualified Civil Engineer (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of BS5975:2019 and familiarity with technical standards from Network Rail and Highways England.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead, manage, and mentor teams effectively.
  • A keen understanding of construction safety, CDM 2015 regulations, and the coordination of temporary works in dynamic environments.

Desirable:

  • 5+ years of experience on large linear infrastructure projects, such as rail or highways.
  • Experience in issue resolution and design optimisation to meet challenging project requirements.
  • CSCS card and SMSTS certification.
