Position Description
The Senior Technical Services Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible to the Technical Services Lead for the provision of Part M Technical Services to the Hawk aircraft fleet across several customers.
This is achieved through the effective utilisation of subject matter knowledge and experience, supporting the delivery of Part M Technical Services at strategic and tactical levels, to enable the maximisation of operational efficiency and minimisation of costs.
Ensuring that the Aircraft Maintenance organisation has the correct approved data to carry out maintennace tasking, including management of technical queries where the current approved data is insufficient.
Core Activity
The role holder has the following responsibilities:
• Develop and produce the technical content of work instructions to enable the accomplishment of all maintenance in accordance with the Operator Maintenance Programme.
• Conduct the analysis of all applicable airworthiness instructions and ensure their accomplishment within the applicable timescales. Ensure any issues are identified and escalated appropriately.
• Generate the assessment of non-mandatory requirements i.e. the evaluation of manufacturers’ proposals, including new maintenance requirements, for fleet inclusion. Work with Fleet Planning and Maintenance Tasking & Verification to ensure their accomplishment.
• Undertake the assessment, coordination of approval and accomplishment of operator modification requirements.
• Work with Design Organisations and OEMs, Maintenance Tasking & Verification, Part 145 organisation(s), Reliability & Maintenance Programmes and all other key stakeholders, in order to deliver the required standards of Continuing Airworthiness and contract delivery.
• Review and report on the effectiveness of Technical Enquiry management, including feedback to Design Organisations and Suppliers, across all responsible maintenance locations. Ensure any trends are identified and escalated, as appropriate.
• Ensuring the effective provision of Technical Services activities by meeting delivery targets and reporting any impact on Continuing Airworthiness. Understanding how individual actions contribute to overall delivery performance.
• Completion of activities – Ensure all Technical Services activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate.
• Procedure/standards – Ensure all Technical Services activities comply with the appropriate Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (or customer equivalent) CAME, its associated procedures and standards and any other Company procedures and standards, as applicable. Identify and propose changes, as required.
• Safety Management System – Ensure Human Factors and Error Management philosophies are applied to all Technical Services activities. Understand the risks associated with Technical Services and the means by which they are mitigated and managed.
• Management System Assurance – Ensure Technical Services activities are compliant with the M&CA Governance and Assurance framework, including supporting Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits. Support the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Support the implementation of identified improvements to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness.
• Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any Regulatory-driven changes into the Technical Services activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO, etc.
• Contractual Requirements – Ensure compliance with applicable contractual requirements, e.g. through support to contract reviews and the incorporation of required changes into the Technical Services processes.

Knowledge:
• Has a demonstrable knowledge and experience of the Hawk aircraft
• Understands the Regulatory Framework and its applicability to the Technical Services processes and activities.
• Able to build good relationships with Customers, Part 145 Organisation(s) , OEMs, Suppliers and other key stakeholders’ personnel.
• Have operational knowledge and understanding of the platform contract(s), the fleet’s performance and the business key performance metrics.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Reliability Programmes and the impact of their findings on the Operator Maintenance Programme.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Fleet Planning, Maintenance Tasking & Verification and Demand Management.
Skills:
• Able to build strong relationships with Customers, Aircraft Maintenance Organisations, Supply Chain, OEMs, Suppliers and other key stakeholders
• Demonstrate operational and commercial understanding of the fleet’s performance and business key performance metrics.
• Able to encourage/champion a continuous improvement culture, and develop/enhance the underpinning management reporting systems. Experienced generalist applies understanding within and across a professional area of knowledge, including how solutions are developed and implemented. Self-sufficient in all common aspects of Technical Services.
• Undertakes a range of work requiring a professional understanding of Technical Services structures and processes.
• Delivery of work involving provision of advice and guidance to others, regarding the definition or interpretation of Technical Services policy, or explanation of future implications/consequences, in support of a decision / appropriate course of action.

• Undertakes the more complex professional work of an area, provides a service to the Technical Services team.
• Builds relationships within the business, the customer base and suppliers works with this group has excellent communication skills to convey knowledge and own experience, in order to persuade & convince others of actions required to resolve a problem or issue.
Qualifications/Functional Knowledge
• Excellent communicator with strong organisational and presentational skills.
• Five years experience of aircraft mechanical systems
• Demonstrable knowledge of the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer, 5 years practical experience of aircraft maintenance in either an Aircraft Maintenance, Production or Continuing Airworthiness role
• Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Able to demonstrate an understanding and application of relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory frameworks, and ensure any Regulatory-driven changes are implemented. Demonstrate compliance with all other requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO, etc.
• Understanding of Quality Management processes and Audit management
• Requires broad and in-depth product knowledge, expert competence within own technical / subject area and an understanding of the relationship with interfacing / contributory areas.
• Experience of in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
• A comprehensive knowledge of Acceptable Means of Compliance document sets.
