About the Role:

Are you a passionate and skilled Social Worker looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? The Vale of Glamorgan's Children's Services is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their Children's Front Door Team on a temporary basis. This is a pivotal role where you will be the first point of contact for children and families in need of support and protection.
As a member of the Front Door Team, you will play a key role in the initial stages of our involvement with children and families. You will assess the needs and risks at the point of referral, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to safeguard children and provide the necessary support to families.

Key Responsibilities:

Initial Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of incoming referrals to determine the level of need and risk for children and families.
Decision-Making: Make informed decisions on the next steps for each case, including referrals to appropriate services, urgent interventions, or further assessments by other teams.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with partner agencies, including health services, schools, and the police, to gather relevant information and provide a coordinated response.
Safeguarding: Ensure that all actions taken are in line with safeguarding policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children.
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support in emergency situations to protect vulnerable children and stabilise family situations.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of all assessments, decisions, and actions using the case management system.
Communication: Clearly communicate decisions and recommendations to families, colleagues, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
