Join us in shaping the future of customer engagement and digital innovation.Our Product Technology department has multi-disciplined delivery squads, each consisting of engineers, designers, QA testers, and product owners. The successful applicant for this role will join one of these delivery squads and will contribute to design, development and delivery of new experiences and products.We follow an iterative agile process and a continuous integration and continuous delivery approach, supported by an automated release pipeline. Our department is dedicated to utilising good quality practices, and we work with the latest versions of programming languages on a system built on modern cloud infrastructure (AWS).Our department has a guiding principle to trust and enable engineers to take ownership of their work and determine the most effective way to deliver it. Our people aim to foster a culture of respectful collaboration, where strong relationships based on familiarity and mutual respect allow for open and transparent communication and effective teamwork.In this UK Remote Senior Java Engineer position, you will join one of our delivery squads and will contribute to design, development and delivery of new experiences and products which will play a significant role in the future of the company.What you'll do:Design, develop, release and support robust, scalable and adaptable softwareCollaborate with Technical Leads to design software architectureConduct code reviews and give respectful and constructive feedbackContribute to the definition and improvement of development processes and policiesWrite and maintain tests and contribute to expanding test suitesProvide appropriate documentation for solutions and promote the development knowledge base within the teamBe an active member of an Insights cross discipline delivery squadAttend and actively participate in the squad's Agile SCRUM ceremoniesContribute towards refining and improving delivery processes within the squadShare opinions, ideas, and experience regarding process, features and technical topics which may ariseShare your experience and actively engage in mentoring less experienced colleaguesEngage in cross-squad collaboration to solve shared technical challengesUnderstand the impact of technical debt and take action to repay itParticipate in third-line application support and resolution of production issuesWhat you'll bring:Significant experience in Java 8 (or later), Spring Framework(s) & Gradle or MavenExperience with AWS & its managed services portfolio, or similar cloud platformExperience in developing and delivering RESTful APIsWorking with & designing for an RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, SQLServer, etc) & associated ORM technologiesVery strong focus on automation through the entire engineering lifecycle (development, test & deployment)Strong technical viewpoint supported by the implementation of robust, scalable, and successful solutionsLeading the use of the latest technologies to deliver cutting edge softwareOther useful experience and skills:Familiarity with AWS & its managed services portfolioExperience in writing infrastructure as code (Terraform)Familiarity with “Big Data” processing concepts, challenges & architecturesContract: permanent, full timeLocation: WFH within UKBenefits:• 35 days holidays• Discretionary Annual Bonus• Private Medical Insurance• Income Protection• Pension Plan• Health Cash Plan• Life Assurance• Electric Car Scheme• Gymflex• Employee Giving• My Advantage – Employee Discounts• Critical Illness cover• Employee Assistance Program• Holiday purchase option• Flexible working
