My client�is recruiting for a�Senior Environmental Health Officer based within the local Authority in�Skelmersdale and the surrounding area.
Responsibilities
  • To provide specialist professional competencies across several regulatory areas of Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing
  • To ensure, as far as possible, that appropriate environmental protection safeguards are applied, to ensure pollution does not adversely affect people's health or the environment.
  • To assist in developing the Council's Environmental Protection functions, including providing specialist advice and support to other colleagues and other important stakeholders such as the Planning and Licensing teams.
  • To act as a professional lead in relation to relevant Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing regulatory work areas including: - Noise and acoustics and other nuisance - Air quality - Contaminated land - Pollution Prevention and Control (industrial emissions
  • To respond to complaints and inspect premises/land under all relevant Environmental Health and Public Health legislation, having regard to agreed procedures, work instructions and Codes of Practice; to advise on standards and take appropriate enforcement action (including serving notices, producing prosecution files and appearing in court) as necessary.�
  • To be a lead officer in relation to contaminated land, interpret and apply the legislation as appropriate and proactively engage with the Planning process in relation to contaminated land matters

Requirements
  • knowledge and qualifications BSc/MSc Degree in Environmental Health or the Diploma in Environmental Health or their equivalent and registration by the EHORB
  • Full driving licence and use of own car
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and apply complex legislation, technical guidance and data and disseminate this in various written and verbal reporting formats for a range of audiences
  • Excellent IT and technology skills
Contract�
  • Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend�
  • PAYE via Umbrella�
  • Monday to Friday
  • 9am to 5pm�
  • Flexible office based work
As the role is Local Authority based candidates will be asked to complete an onboarding & compliance�checks including DBS & Online training modules�prior to starting.
