SEND Learning Support Assistant needed for a established yet evolving special needs college in the Bolton area.

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of students with Complex Needs such as physical, communication, sensory, emotional & behavioural obstacles to learning?

Our client, a special needs college in Bolton for students with Complex Needs aged 19-25, is part of an outstanding and well respected education trust that are looking for a hard working and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team from January 2024 onward.

Role: SEND Learning Support Assistant at special needs college for students aged 19-25 with Complex Needs.
Location: Bolton
Start Date: ASAP in September 2024
Contract: Full time & long term, could go perm for the right person.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm

Pay: Up to £95/day DOE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group & 1:1 support to students aged 19-25 with Complex Needs including physical, emotional, sensory & speech & language difficulties.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans, tailored to individual students' requirements.
  • Foster a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students' engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop effective strategies and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young adults with special needs is essential.
  • Prior experience with Personal Care or Moving & Handling tasks or the willingness and ability to learn and implement this quickly as part of the role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Candidates with a background as a Support Worker, Residential Support Worker or Care Worker will be considered if you have a DBS on the Update Service and professional references from the UK that can evidence your experience with special needs.
