8am-1.30pm Monday-Friday
PURPOSE OF JOB Prepare and cook food in either of the school kitchens to the required standard under the direction of the Head Chef and Catering Office Manager
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have the ability to communicate with children and colleagues at all levels in a professional and friendly manner
- Flexibility, reliability and being able to work as part of a team is required
- Responsible for the preparation and presentation of meals in a hygienic and nutritional manner and in accordance with the required standards expected by the School Governors, Senior Management Team and School Nurse which must also be within the required Catering budget
- All food should be home made whenever possible and cooked as near to service time as possible - Ensure that all work is carried out safely and responsibly
- Ensure tidy working in the kitchen and prompt cleaning of any used work areas and equipment used - Ensure staff only use equipment and perform duties for which they are trained and all equipment is used and kept safely and hygienically
- Ensure that stock is used rotationally
- To store all foods in the correct place at the required temperature, covered and used in the correct rotation, recording temperatures properly
- Ensure that all required controls are performed and all the documentation is fully completed and filed accordingly - Ensure that appropriate security is maintained (particularly the locking down of the kitchen(s) at the end of duty at the end of the day)
- Ensure that all equipment is turned off and isolated at the end of the day - Attend all training, internally and externally, as considered appropriate by the Catering Office Manager and Head Chef
- Carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and it's grading as requested by the Head Chef, Catering Office Manager or higher level of authority
