The Area Mobile Technician role will be the focal point in the garages for technical issues and diagnostic problems, forming the interface between engineers and the Engineering Director, and will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs and advice on engines, gearboxes, axles. Mobile Technicians will assist sites in carrying out work normally completed by contractors where possible. At times you may be required to assist with training and to carryout investigations.
Chelmsford garage will be the base location for administrative purposes however this is a fully mobile role with extensive travel requirements. There may be extensive periods of training requiring overnight stays within the UK, including NI.
Main Responsibilities:
To be a point of contact for in-depth engineering fault finding and repairs on specific vehicle types.
To assist sites when they are working with a reduced headcount.
To assist sites with long term/heavy work to reduce reliance on external contractors
Carry out diagnostic tests on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment.
Advise the Engineering Manager on technical issues within the garage.
Draft reports on the performance and failure of engines, gearboxes, axles, electrics for the Engineering Director.
Carry out projects/trials on behalf of the Engineering Director
Develop and foster good working relationships with engineers and other grades.
Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with chassis and body manufacturers, DVSA
Essential Criteria:
Minimum qualification of NVQ3 standard, with a view to being trained to level 4
Comprehensive understanding of engines, diagnostic equipment, and its applications.
In depth technical knowledge of major components fitted to Company fleet.
Full understanding/appreciation of the terms and condition of the Company Operating Licence.
Willingness to adapt and update skills and attend training courses.

Hours of work:
The Master Technician will be required to work a range of shifts in line with the particular needs of the garages.
The working week runs from Sunday to Saturday and comprises of 39 hours, rest days will be rostered each week. Rosters may include some weekend and bank holiday work where required.
