Service Desk Analyst / Service Desk Engineer - Fixed Term Contract (6 months)

£22,000 - £23,250 PA PRO RATA

Fantastic opportunity to work with a large, household name business as a Service Desk Analyst. There is considerable scope for progression and career growth within this organisation. Working in a supportive and inclusive team of 10 individuals, you'll report to the Service Desk Team Leader and will be the first point of contact for IT users across the business.

You'll have the opportunity to interact with staff at all levels across the group (both face to face and over the phone) and will be working closely with IT Managers across the business as well as technical / 3rd line support teams, technical project managers and 3rd party suppliers.

You will be part of a shift team with a shift rota covering the hours of 07:00 - 19:00, Monday to Sunday in support of this 24/7 business.

What you'll do:

  • Manage inbound requests and incidents acting as the first port of call for IT queries for the business.
  • Help to improve 1st and 2nd line fix rate.
  • Manage, categorise, and prioritise all tickets from the organisations IT monitoring systems.
  • Provide troubleshooting and assist in the resolution of problems associated with both software and hardware for local and remote users.
  • Contribute to the comprehensive knowledge base.
  • Manage ITSM tool content, ensuring it is up to date.

What you'll need:

  • Previous 1st & 2nd line support experience
  • Experience supporting Windows Desktop, versions 7 and 10
  • Experience working with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Knowledge or understanding of Office 365
  • Experience with Desktop PC Setup and Deployment
  • Good understanding of computer networking, ideally both LAN and Wi-Fi

While not a requirement for the role, it would also be beneficial if you have experience supporting ERP systems, for example SAP, Oracle or Workday.

Experience working in an ITIL framework, or ITIL Foundation certification will also be an advantage.

Mechanical Engineering Estimator Location: Workington, Cumbria Salary: Competitive Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Estimator on behalf of one of our clients.  The purpose of this role is to support and maintain a professional estimating service on behalf of the commercial and operational teams in support of new business opportunities. Through implementing a professional estimating practice, ensuring that future work is secured on a competitive basis and is based on known risks and rewards. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.  Duties and Responsibilities: Undertaking estimates for manufacturing and site installation activities. This will include activities which are both self-performed and sub-contracted. Preparation of BOQ and procurement schedules as part of the estimating phase in anticipation of securing the execution phase. Preparation and costing Risk Registers and recognising and bounding Estimating Uncertainty for more complex submissions. Interfacing with the various internal approval bodies (Gate Process) to ensure that tender submission deadlines are met. Monitoring and delivering estimating work within the sanctioned Bid Costs. Providing accurate reports covering estimating KPI’s, progress information in relation to estimating. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders e.g. clients, external suppliers, commercial teams, operational teams, planning department etc. Implementing best practice estimating processes and procedures which are also consistent with wider Company arrangements (including IT systems). Skills and Qualifications: Full Craft City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 / B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering – Essential. Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience – preferably within the Nuclear, Defence or Heavy Engineering Sectors – Essential. 3 to 5 years manufacturing estimating experience – Desirable. Understanding of Engineering Drawings, Specifications and Contract Documentation. Understanding of fabrication, machining and assembly activities and the ability to accurately estimate the hours required to undertake these tasks.  Identification of ‘Norms’ for fabrication, machining and assembly activity. An understanding of potential project risks and how to cater for these within estimates. Experience developing and implement written procedures and processes. Understanding and use of IT Systems including Microsoft Office, including capability to complete internal estimate sheets and external client estimate sheets as required. Good commercial awareness including delivery to budgets / timescales. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Represents the company in a professional and competent manner during interactions with customers and stakeholders. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the products and services offered.
