We act on behalf of our client, a medium sized steelwork fabrication company based in Northern Ireland, approximately 30 miles South of Belfast who now require an Operations Manager. With a monthly output capability of around 500 tonnes of steelwork, they produce structural and secondary steelwork buildings such as portal frames, mezzanine floors and miscellaneous steelwork. The company offer a salary c£40K - £50K dependant upon the candidate and experience along with a company vehicle and the usual benefits associated with a senior role. Candidate This is an important senior role within the business and requires someone who has previously held a similar role as an Operations Manager or a Contract / Project Manager / Senior Manager who now wants to take the next step in their career development and into a more senior role. Experience working within the steelwork and fabrication industry would be ideal with practical knowledge and an understanding of the steelwork industry and fabrication process from tender stage to handover. A detailed knowledge of the steelwork fabrication business would be preferred but candidates will also be considered from a general construction background who have a good understanding of the steelwork element of the construction. An ability to manage both people and the contract programme and all that entails in a calm professional manager and update the program and departmental staff accordingly of progress and any changes. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are required. Current full driving license. Role Overall responsibility of the project / site program. Producing with colleagues the project program and ensuring deadlines are achieved with full liaison with all relevant internal and external parties, to include sub-contractors, suppliers etc. from project launch to hand over. Attend site and office meetings with colleagues, clients, architects, engineers etc. and updating the program to suit any changes. Raise variations and inform colleagues of the causal effects to program for any agreed changes and variations.
