We have a new opportunity which I believe is quite unusual and very exciting. This mechanical design engineering role is for a global medical device development company which is at the forefront of point of care diagnostics. With 600 employees worldwide this company has reduced the detection time for 10 of the deadliest blood-borne diseases, from days to under 15 minutes. A revolutionary step in point of care diagnostics for speed and accuracy, aiding volume testing, healthcare treatment of transient communities, and others with limited access to healthcare professionals. However, the application of this technology is far-reaching, and we are looking for an exceptional mechanical design engineer to join the company’s innovation hub, based at one of Scotland’s most prestigious universities. There are currently 15 world-class engineers, scientists, and thought leaders in this team, developing the company’s future product portfolio. We are looking for a design engineer who has had previous experience of complex diagnostic device development; products that integrate microfluidics, electronic, mechanical, and software systems, preferably in the medical technology sector. Experience gained from an environment creating new technology products will be most aligned to the work carried out by the innovation team. An insatiable appetite to continue learning and exploring new technologies and solutions is an absolute must. You will also need a strong Degree in Mechanical or Product design Engineering, coupled with a broad range of experience of software such as SolidWorks, FEA simulation tools, and modelling packages such as; COMSOL, Multiphysics.
