As a Social worker, you will recruit, support and develop the skills of foster carers to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

You will provide a comprehensive, flexible and high-quality service to carers, children and young people based in Hastings, East Sussex.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Supervising Social Worker to join an experienced and successful fostering team that are reflective and creative in practice.

Social Workers are linked with a local office, but will be required to travel to other areas, therefore; a car is essential to the role.


Below is a brief list of roles and duties you will be undertaking on a regular basis:

  • Recruit, assess, and monitor the skills of foster carers to ensure that they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children and young people
  • Ensure that they have up to date foster care agreement in place that meets regulatory requirements
  • Work with carers to ensure that they fully understand their role and identify and capture their development needs on a personal development plan
  • Assist in the 'Skills to Foster’ training as appropriate
  • Provide and record regular supervision to allocated foster carers in line with the agency’s operational and quality standards and undertake such additional support visits/telephone contact as required taking into account the needs of all family members
  • Develop and forge strong relationships with local authorities
  • Work in partnership with other professionals, local authorities and stakeholders, enabling full participation in assessment, planning, review and decision making
  • Provide written case notes and reports, which are analytical, focused, and jargon-free
  • Lead the investigation of allegations of significant harm to children in consultation with other professionals and line manager
  • Draw one’s own conclusions about the likelihood and take appropriate action in line with policy and procedures.
  • Carry out an in-depth assessment of applicants including undertaking initial visits and carer assessments, apply professional curiosity and authority while maintaining a position of partnership, involving all key family members
  • Participate in the out of hour’s duty system on a rota basis


The Ideal candidate for the Supervising Social Worker position will have:

  • A relevant degree in social work and be registered with Social Work England
  • A substantial experience of foster care practice, including the assessment of potential foster carers
  • Good knowledge of fostering regulations, child care law and safeguarding issues. You will also need the ability to make objective professional assessments of children or young people.
  • You must also be a strong team player and be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

I have a role for a Night Nurse, 36.75 hours a week, at £18.50 per hour (£38,240 per annum), set 5 minutes from a historic quaint market town, making it easy to reach from London by train (around 35 minutes). This private elderly nursing home has been open for the last 4 years and has a fantastic reuptation in the local community, being alomost at full occupancy, and a team that has been in place pretty much since it opened. This provider is at the forefront of staff training and development, with their own in-house nurse trainer and in addition, offer access to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner training. In a nutshell, their staff tend to stay here for a long time, and it's easy to understand why!

You will be an RGN (or RMN with significant experience in private elderly care) with experience within the private nursing sector, and have a passion for creating a wonderful fun, and vibrant environment for your residents. If you have experience of palliative care, this is an advantage, and you will be confident in your clinical skills (PEG feeds, syringe drivers, wound management...), and also enjoy working with dementia clients, although this isn't an advanced dementia nursing home.
