Athona is currently recruiting for a full time Forensic Specialty doctor on a substantive basis. This position will be working within a NHS hospital in London in a forensic community mental health team. The proposed start date is as soon as possible but 3 months' notice will also be feasible.

To be eligible for this role we are looking for someone with;
- A GMC license to practice in the UK
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in psychiatry
- Section 12 approval is desired Duties of the post:

  • Work with the MDT in a community forensic setting.
  • Undertake forensic risk assessments following referrals from local services.
  • Attendance at the weekly clinical team meeting at Pall Mall Centre.
  • Liaise with Pharmacy and Primary Care colleagues.
  • The Post Holder would be encouraged to become involved in Clinical Audit, both individually and collectively, and will contribute to the improvement of the quality of the clinical work of the service by adopting evidence based practice. The Post Holder will be committed to improving the quality of clinical care and will contribute to the Clinical Governance agenda within the service.
  • Contribute to the professional development and teaching programme within the team. This will include supporting medical students on placement from Imperial College London.
  • The Speciality Doctor will be expected to be registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD and to follow their guidelines. They will be encouraged to join a peer CPD group and develop their own PDP outlining their learning and development needs. The Trust will provide a budget for ongoing CPD activity. They can also attend when relevant the weekly forensic Academic Programme.
